SFI CSAM2 / SAM2 - Multi Species Winter Cover
Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) CSAM2 (2024) and SAM2 (2023), Multi-Species Winter Cover, requires a well-established multi-species cover crop over the winter months - December, January and February, to protect the soil surface and improve soil structure through varying rooting types. CSAM2 and SAM2 are static or rotational actions, and can therefore be carried out on the same area of land each year, or can be moved around the farm. The cover crop must be sown, and contain two or more species from the following plant families - brassica, cereal, grass, legume or herb.

Use this mixture for CSAM2, SOH4 (2024) and SAM2 (2023) Sustainable Farming Incentive (Multi Species Winter Cover), to provide rapid soil coverage in the autumn. Berseem clover grows vigorously in the autumn but is killed by frost. Winter vetch and crimson clover are frost-tolerant for winter ground cover and early spring growth.
