Paddock Grass Seed FAQs

What is the best grass seed for paddock?

+

The best time to seed your paddock is during the spring or during early autumn. These are the best times due to the soil being the perfect temperature and humidity for the seed to germinate and grow. The soil in your paddock should be at least 8 degree celsius before seeding.

How long does paddock grass take to grow?

+

Usually it takes about 5-6 weeks for the grass seed to germinate and fully establish. Once it is established, we recommend only allowing light grazing, before allowing the grass to then recover for a couple weeks. We recommend letting the grass grow to between 5 and 6 inches before allowing full grazing on the paddock.

How do you overseed a paddock?

+

Overseeding is an incredibly simple and effective way to improve the quality and appearance of your paddock grass

Overseeding can be done either by manual broadcasting or with the help of a seed spreader. We recommend using a spreader as manual spreading is incredibly time-consuming, especially in larger areas like a paddock. A spreader also ensures an even coverage which is difficult to achieve manually.

We recommend our Paddock Repair Grass Seed which is specially formulated to establish quickly without the need to disturb your horses grazing. It’s particularly good for repairing poached areas along fences and in gateways.
